We've made quite a few chocolate chip recipes and ultimately have decided that this one is our most favorite. I found it just pulling up a list of them on AllRecipes.com and it had top billing. All the kids can say is yummmm! The recipe says it will make 24 which is not enough for a crew of 8 so we doubled the recipe. Dropping them by a tablespoon scoop we got 101 cookies. Wow...some to freeze for a change! We didn't change a thing when we made them...so ENJOY!
2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
2 cups packed brown sugar
4 eggs
4 tsp vanilla extract
6 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
4 tsp hot water
1 tsp salt
4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped pecans/walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
